How Much Product Should I Use?

by Jessicurl Chief Educator Claire

How much product should I use? A question I get asked frequently!

This is a difficult question to get a textbook answer to, as the ideal product amount depends on so many factors such as hair length, thickness, and texture.

Here are some starting points to refer to, but don't forget you can always reduce or increase this as you try the products; in fact, I encourage you to do this. Experimenting with products is the best way to find what suits your hair best!

CLEANSERS & CONDITIONERS

Cleansers - Start with a dollar coin size amount and emulsify the cleanser by rubbing it between your hands into a lather. You’ll see that a little goes a long way!

Conditioners - For fine or short hair, start with a dollar coin size amount. Longer or thicker hair will probably need a little more to cover the hair. A small palmful is normally sufficient.

STYLERS

Confident Coils Styling Solution (cream-based) - a dollar coin size amount for thick hair and a nickel size amount for fine hair.

Rockin' Ringlets Styling Potion (curl enhancer) - made for thicker textures a little goes a long way with this product! A dollar coin size amount is a good place to start to make your curls pop!

Gelebration Spray (curl enhancer) - made for finer textures and waves, 2 - 4 pumps for the whole head.

Spiralicous Styling Gel (gel) - same as Confident Coils, start with a dollar coin size amount for thick hair, and a nickel size amount for fine hair.
