My Curlaversiary is this month (March), so I wanted to celebrate and share my love for all things curls and offer some words of encouragement if you are new to this journey.
You may not have always loved them or be still figuring out your relationship with them, but here are my top reasons why I love mine and all curls/waves in general!
Curly hair is often seen as a unique and attractive texture that adds volume and personality to a person’s appearance. Some opinions show that those with curly hair look younger because it adds volume and texture to the hair, creating a fuller and more youthful appearance! Who are we to argue with that!
Textured hair also offers great versatility in styling options and can be shown as a sign of individuality and diversity. So alongside the above, here are a few curly and wavy hair attributes that I am thankful for and have learned to love!
Love Volume
Flat is not a word often associated with curly hair, right?! Curls naturally create a fuller look with visible texture, which can be very appealing. Lucky for us, volume is back with a vengeance, so celebrate the natural body of your curls!
Love Versatility
Curly hair can be styled in many ways, from loose waves to tight curls, and even blown out if we wish to. Its naturally thicker texture can also work in our favour when it comes to updos, helping to hold a variety of looks in place.
Love Your Unique Head of Hair
There is never a more accurate statement than that no two heads of hair are the same, and this couldn’t be truer when talking about curly or wavy hair. Own your unique curl pattern(s), as curly hair is often considered a distinctive feature that sets someone apart!
Love Your Heritage
Whether your curls have been passed down from a parent, grandparent, or a throwback to a generation gone by, curly hair can hold a special sentiment for those you gained them from. Curly hair is also linked to specific ethnicities and can be seen as a symbol of heritage, which is rightly and proudly celebrated.
