My best friend, Angel, is also a Curly that experiences debilitating migraines, often as a result of scent. Jess paved a path for Curlies like herself and Angel that, for whatever reason, not many others had considered before.
A quick trip to the grocery store, just walking down an aisle moments after someone wearing heavy perfume, or turning into the laundry aisle absentmindedly, could be a trigger. Within minutes, the migraine would begin building. Now, imagine trying to work with curl products that constantly smelled like, “Bubblegum Berry Burst.” Nuh-uh.
Jess loved her curls; she loved styling products and the curlcare rituals that come with being a Curly. What she didn’t love was that the already limited curly products on the market were loaded with overwhelming fragrance. She realized early on that skipping fragrance often meant sacrificing performance or options; why should anyone have to choose between their health and their hair? So, she decided they wouldn’t. Queen.
Jessicurl became one of the pioneers of curly hair care brands to offer our entire line in No Fragrance Added. Not a limited selection or just one or two staples — the whole line, the same formulas. The same curl definition, moisture and hold. Just without added scent.
Because reactions to fragrances are real. For some, it’s migraines; for others, it’s skin irritation, respiratory sensitivity or general discomfort. No Curly should have to endure pain for perfect curls.
