If you have multiple curl patterns in your hair, I hear you! 🙋♀️
Most people with textured hair have more than one type of pattern on their heads and I'm one of them!
Your curl pattern can be identified by the shape of the strands of hair, whether they kink, curve, or wind around themselves into spirals—but that doesn't mean they're all the same.
Alongside having a solid wash day routine and products, I find the following three tips can help when styling multiple curl patterns:
USE A BRUSH TO STYLE
Brush styling is a great way to create consistency throughout your curl pattern. Using a brush to style helps evenly distribute products and can increase your curl pattern, making it more uniform.
SECTION YOUR HAIR
Splitting your hair into sections will allow you to determine what that particular pattern or section needs. My underneath layer has a much looser curl pattern than those on my crown area, so splitting these into two sections allows me to add different products to enhance the areas that need help springing up and blending with the rest of my hair.
TIME FOR A HAIRCUT
If you’ve tried the above, but some of your curls still seem abnormally inconsistent with the rest of your hair, it may be time for a cut. Not only are regular trims essential for keeping hair healthy and strong but there is also a good chance it may be struggling to align with the rest of your hair pattern because it has too much damage from things like heat or color.
